INTERNATIONAL DELEGATION TO TURKEY AND ASSISTANCE TO REFUGEES
Human rights violations in Iran are worsening and the authorities are using increased brute violence to intimidate protesters and force fake confessions from detainees. People are living in fear and activists are forced to flee. We are collecting donations to support sending an international lawyers fact-finding delegation to investigate human rights abuses in Iran and support recent Iranian refugees in Turkey.
PLEASE contribute to sending this delegation using our donations page.
Our mission is to do the following:
• Produce reports, video, and photographs to be used as tools in international campaigns for human rights in Iran;
• Mobilize campaigns to pressure the US and European nations to open up new refugee processing categories and increase the quota of refugees from the Middle East to compensate for the new wave of Iranian refugees and to put a human face on the Iranian refugee situation in Turkey;
• Meet with the UNHCR and NGOs processing Iranian refugees in Turkey;
• Interview Iranian refugees to document the details on why they have sought refuge in Turkey;
• Document living conditions both in writing and through videography of Iranian refugees in Turkey and prepare a Fact-Finding Report for presentation to various UN committees, UNHCR, and General Assembly;
• Hold press conferences in Turkey and Geneva to announce the work of the delegation and the release of its report, and to build international awareness.
ACTION ALERT: REFUGEE ASSISTANCE PROJECT
We are collecting donations to financially assist Iranian refugees. Refugees in Turkey are struggling to survive without work permits and adequate housing. The conditions in Turkey are severe, especially in the winter months, and add to the suffering of the already traumatized refugees. Many are cut off from their families and are recovering from injuries sustained under torture while imprisoned in Iran. They require assistance to pay their rent, utilities, residence fees (almost $300 per six months), medicines, clothing, and food. PLEASE help by donating using our donations page.
