ADVOCATE FOR REFUGEES IN YOUR STATE

Help advocate for the rights of Iranian refugees to reach safety!
Human rights violations in Iran are worsening and the authorities are using increased brute violence to intimidate protesters. cultural workers, and human rights activists. Activists are forced to flee and are left stranded in deplorable conditions and in fear in Turkey, Iraq, Malaysia and other countries.

Over the past year we been urging countries to take responsibility for the growing crisis in refugee resettlement needs.  Some country representatives have responded positively, but we need citizens like you to keep the pressure on government officials in key countries. Groups of constituents can meet with their local and national representatives about the issues affecting Iranian refugees.  We are seeking activists in Europe, Canada, and across the U.S. to take the initiative to meet with their representatives to ask that their government work to:

    - Increase or adopt annual refugee admissions quotas, as well as share best practices on dossier selection to meet protection needs   as they arise globally.
    - Expand humanitarian parole procedures and other visa options for the expeditious admission of vulnerable refugees.
    - Designate a special refugee admissions catego ry for the recognition of Iranian human rights defenders consisting of student activists, jour nalists, cultural workers, women’s activists, la bor organizers and lawyers as refugees.
    - Allocate additional funding to UNHCR Turkey to increase its refugee processing capacity prior to 2012.YOU can help!

ACTION ALERT: REFUGEE LEGAL ASSISTANCE PROJECT

We are collecting donations to financially assist Iranian refugees.  Refugees in Turkey are struggling to survive without work permits and adequate housing.  The conditions in Turkey are severe, especially in the winter months, and add to the suffering of the already traumatized refugees.  Many are cut off from their families and are recovering from injuries sustained under torture while imprisoned in Iran.  They require assistance to pay their rent, utilities, residence fees (almost $300 per six months), medicines, clothing, and food. PLEASE help by donating using our donations page.
